SWEET WATER BAKING COMPANY, KIMBERTON PA

(6.5 MILEs)

The bakery is located at Kimberton Hills Camphill Village, an intentional community for adults with developmental disabilities. The bakery partners with Camphill by giving residents a chance to learn a vocation and practice new skills.

Traditional baking methods and quality ingredients are the key to baked goods that are good for you:

  • All ingredients are organic and local whenever possible; Local spelt is from Beaver Farm (in Kimberton)

  • All whole grain flour is ground fresh in a slow-moving, stone mill

  • Unbleached white flour comes directly from a mill in Minnesota and retains the wheat germ

“Our methods involve taking the time to make the best products without the stabilizers, preservatives, flavor enhancers and other things that even natural and organic foods may contain. The result is a healthier, higher quality product that can’t be copied by taking shortcuts. It’s a process that takes almost three days from beginning to end.”

  • The bread is mixed and shaped by hand and baked in a wood-fired brick oven

  • The bread is all naturally leavened

  • Granola is made with presoaked oats, coconut oil, and just enough Sucanat sugar
